Dr. Gan Eng Cern is a Consultant ENT Surgeon with fellowship training. He’s received subspecialty training in Rhinology (a subspecialty in Nose and Sinus conditions), as well as Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery. He received his advanced training at the renowned St. Paul’s Sinus Centre, part of the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. In addition, he has contributed to medical education as a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore.

He went on to specialise in Otorhinolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery (ENT) in Singapore, where he earned accreditation as an ENT specialist from both the Ministry of Health and the Singapore Medical Council. Recognised for his excellence, he received the prestigious Health Manpower Development Award (HMDP) from the Ministry of Health, Singapore, which enabled him to pursue advanced subspecialty training at the esteemed St. Paul’s Sinus Centre, University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada.

In 2014, his innovative work on optimizing patient positioning during sinus surgery, aimed at reducing bleeding and enhancing surgical safety, earned him the prestigious 19th Yahya Cohen Memorial Lectureship for the best surgical paper in Singapore.
Throughout his career, Dr. Gan has been awarded hospital research grants and has contributed extensively to leading international ENT journals.
In 2015 and 2016, he served on the review committee for the Eastern Health Alliance (EHA) Scientific Meeting Competition, evaluating submissions for the scientific paper. Additionally, Dr. Gan lends his expertise as a reviewer for prominent medical journals, including:

Dr. Gan is a dedicated and approachable educator. He has contributed significantly to the training of medical students at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, as well as ENT residents in Singapore. As part of his teaching roles, he also served as an examiner for the ENT examinations conducted for medical students at the National University of Singapore.
In collaboration with the ENT Department at Changi General Hospital, Dr. Gan organizes an annual cadaveric dissection course focused on nose and sinus surgery (Foundation Surgical Skills Course in Otolaryngology), catering to ENT surgeons from both local and international backgrounds.
Additionally, he has been invited to share his expertise as a speaker and instructor in cadaveric dissection at numerous sinus surgery courses globally.
